Neck pain

Neck pain is a common complaint from which 30% to 50% of all people will suffer at some point in their lives.

Traditional Japanese acupuncture (TJA) offers highly effective pain relief for both acute and chronic neck issues. It can help to relieve muscle spasms and stimulate blood flow to the affected areas by directing and regulating Qi to trigger your body’s healing response.

Acute or chronic neck pain and its causes

Neck pain can have a variety of causes:

  • Strains and Sprains (from sleeping in the wrong position and poor posture)
  • Musculo skeletal injuries (sports injuries, car accidents, etc…)
  • Disk degeneration (osteoarthritis, cervical spondylosis, etc…)
  • Pinched nerves
  • Herniated disks
  • Whiplash

Regardless of what caused the neck pain to begin, TJA can be practical and effective method for acute pain relief and also for healing chronic neck pain over time. When performed correctly, it is a relaxing, gentle treatment approach, even if the painful area is being stimulated.

How does Traditional Japanese acupuncture work?

TJA is an adaptation of the traditional Japanese method, incorporating his knowledge of anatomy and physiology and the principles of modern evidence-based medicine, which has found that neurotransmitters and neurohormones can explain the effects of acupuncture.

TJA works by regulating the flow of Qi along the body’s meridians. That means it can stimulate the release of specific transmitters and hormones such as opioid peptides and alter the secretion of these chemicals. It can also regulate the blood flow and facilitate the enlargement of blood capillaries. This in turn allows cells and tissues to absorb these chemicals and excrete excess, stagnant and harmful materials. This helps speed up the healing and corrective process and restore the muscle and nerve functions.
